Am Ah is a 2025 Malayalam mystery thriller that blends serene hillscapes with suspense. Directed by Thomas K. Sebastian, the drama takes place against the fog-covered hills of Idukki, where road supervisor Stephen's mundane job takes an unexpected turn. With powerhouse performances by Dileesh Pothan and Devadarshini, the film is an interesting watch. Following an 84‑day theatrical run in Kerala, "Am Ah" is now finally available on OTT.
About the Movie
Stephen (Dileesh Pothan) arrives at the remote village of Kavantha to take charge of a stalled road widening project. What is routine work becomes intriguing as soon as he encounters Ammini Amma (Devadarshini) and her inquisitive granddaughter Baby Nihara. As Stephen's curiosity grows, the thick mountain landscape is not merely picturesque background—it's a symbol of the intrigue that has to be peeled away. Kaviprasad Gopinath’s screenplay skillfully balances moments of quiet reflection with sudden twists, while Anishlal R.S.’s cinematography paints every frame with verdant detail.
Cast
Anchoring the narrative are Dileesh Pothan’s understated performance and Devadarshini’s poignant portrayal of a woman carrying unspoken sorrows. Supporting roles by Jaffar Idukki (as the ward member), Meera Vasudev (Anju), T.G. Ravi (Pappettan) and Maala Parvathi add texture to village life, while Baby Nihara brings an air of innocent mystery. Thomas K. Sebastian's pacing allows each actor room to breathe, and Gopi Sundar's unsettling score deepens both the suspense and emotional core of the film. Editor Bijith Bala maintains the narrative at a measured pace, engaging audiences without ever feeling rushed.
Reviews
Critics gave “Am Ah” an average of around 2.5 stars, acknowledging its strong premise but wishing it delved deeper. They praised the film’s heartfelt moments and the intriguing side‑investigation twist that keeps viewers hooked. Devadarshini’s performance shines brightly, even as the script falters in fully developing its characters. The supporting cast delivers solid work, yet the overall narrative often plays it too safe. “Am Ah” captivates with its atmosphere and intent but stops short of a truly memorable mystery.
OTT Release
"Am Ah" can now be streamed on Sun NXT across the world and Amazon Prime Video in India. The film was out on OTT on April 18th.
