Extra Decent (ED) is a 2024 Malayalam dark comedy thriller film that made a buzz in theaters. This is one of the movie I was eagerly waiting to be released on OTT because I was not able to catch this movie in the theatre. Directed by Aamir Pallikkal, the film features Suraj Venjaramoodu in an interesting role. The movie explores the story of Binu, whose troubled childhood makes him a volatile element. ED interweaves a mix of humor and intensity to bring out the dark undertones of a toxic childhood and family melodrama. The movie will be released in OTT in the next few weeks.
About the Movie
Extra Decent tells the story of Binu, who is haunted by the death of his older brother in an accident. Following this trauma, Binu's life goes downhill into madness and danger. His father, Das, and sister, Nishima, react differently, while his friend Sanju stands by him as things go out of control. The film is a story of revenge and redemption, as Binu learns a dark family secret that turns everything around. The story is both gripping and full of unsettling humor. Suraj Venjaramoodu holds the film together with a performance that is complex and engrossing.
The movie is supported by a strong supporting cast. Nishima Das is played sensitively by Grace Antony, while Sanju is played with a touch of humor by Shyam Mohan. Sudheer Karamana and Vinaya Prasad as Binu's parents bring alive the inner conflict of the family.
The technical team also deserves credit—off-screen work by Sharon Srinivas, music by Ankit Menon, and editing by Sreejith Sarang give the film its dark, eerie feel. Extra Decent is commendable for its story style, which combines a great sense of humour with an extremely in-depth study of personal trauma and domestic conflict.
